Stay balanced this june

HELLO FRIENDS! June is here, and we are almost halfway through 2022! June is always busy with graduations, weddings, summer vacations, and warmer weather. This month, we have several fun events with some of your favorite teachers and some special guests.

We have a full June schedule of classes to help keep you balanced in between those backyard barbecues and warm weather adventures. Eshe is back and will be teaching Wednesdays; 9 am Yin, 10:30 am Therapeutic, and 5:15 pm Beginner’s Yoga. Chair Yoga is also back on Fridays at 10:30 am. Another addition to the schedule each week is our Sunday Community Circle. Sundays at 7 pm, gather in community to share space and prepare for the week ahead. With all of the things going on around us and all of the tragic events this year, taking time to be together feels like the best way to acknowledge and create space for healing and connection.

Thank you for continuing to share your practice with us and for bringing your energy and light into the studio each day. The space is only walls and a floor until you arrive, and then it comes to life day after day. Wishing you a great month and many happy moments shared with those who make you smile. COMING UP


RESTORE AND RENEW WITH SACRED SOUNDS Sunday, June 5 | 7 - 8:30 pm Join Brianna and Andre in taking a sacred pause to rejuvenate your body and soul and restore your reserves. Brianna will guide a mellow movement experience for all levels including gentle and restorative yoga, sweet stretching, deep breathing and meditation. Andre opens the portals of sound vibrations utilizing sacred instruments such as Himalayan bowls, gong, rattle, buffalo drum and didgeridoo, to support breaking up stagnation, deep relaxation, and uplifting intentions for healing.

GROUP PAINTING CLASS + WINE Sunday, June 18 | 1 - 3 pm A relaxing afternoon of painting and wine. All supplies will be provided, just bring yourself and you'll leave with your own creation. Based on the High Priestess card in the Tarot Leaves deck, we will be using acrylic paints to make our own unique albino monstera paintings. Check out more from Cloverfall Designs.

A DAY OF YOGA IN THE VINEYARD Saturday, June 25 | 11 am - 5 pm Join us for a day of… Yoga, meditation and relaxation at Confluence Arts Center/Domaine Margelle Vineyards! Lorissa, Brianna and Cassandra will guide you through gentle hatha yoga, a creative vinyasa experience, and a restorative Yin session to awaken, rejuvenate and replenish the body. Enjoy guided meditation and journaling sessions for centering and intention setting for summer inspirations, along with a meditation walk on the beautiful vineyard grounds for reflection and integration. Soak up the nourishing vibrations of sound baths provided by Andre peppered throughout the afternoon. A light lunch will be provided, topped off with a glass of Domaine Margelle wine to toast the day.

SPECIAL EVENT


YOGA SURROUNDED BY ART Friday, June 17 | 5:30 - 7 pm Salem Art Association and Common People Yoga are excited to join together to host a special evening of yoga surrounded by art. This class is open to everyone, no yoga experience is necessary. This 90-minute event begins with a Vinyasa Yoga Flow class led by Lorissa Addabbo that takes place in the A.N. Bush Gallery at the Bush Barn Art Center & Annex. Following the class, you will be invited to enjoy a glass of wine and view the Black Matter exhibition. This special event is limited to 15 participants and is a donation-based event.

100 CLASSES

Congrats on 100 classes, Pam! Thank you for brightening our studio and showing up for yourself day after day! 100 classes attended means your photo on the wall, a custom yoga mat, and a goody bag of local treats. It’s our way of saying thank you! Whether it is your 1st class or your 100th, we appreciate you, and see you!




 

LOOKING AHEAD


ROOFTOP YOGA + MIMOSAS Saturdays at 8 am (7/9, 7/16, 8/6, 8/13) Sip and stretch with us! We'll be taking over the rooftop of The Independence Hotel to practice yoga and enjoy a morning toast with mimosas or green smoothies. Drinks are included. Cheers! Registration will open soon.




MUSIC FOR MIND AND BODY: SITAR AND TABLA Sunday, July 24 | 6 - 7:30 pm Sitar & Tabla duo J.J. Gregg & Ravi Albright bring you a musical experience crafted to let the mind and body unwind. The lyrical shimmer of J.J.’s sitar finds a perfect complement in the crisp world of Ravi’s plentiful entrancing tabla beats. Come feel the sitar in your heart and the tabla in your bones. Every audience brings a unique energy into our music. Come be part of our inspiring atmosphere! With flexible seating arrangements - from chairs to yoga mats - we can accommodate those who would like to sit in meditation or take restorative postures.

YOGA RETREAT AT THE INDEPENDENCE HOTEL September 9 - 11 We are so excited for our First CPY Weekend Retreat on September 9th to 11th, located at the beautiful riverfront location of The Independence Hotel just across the river in downtown Independence. We have curated a special weekend with morning rooftop yoga, evening riverfront yoga, wine tasting, a kayak trip, and delicious meals prepared by the team at Territory Restaurant. Single and double occupancy rooms are still available.

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT


Eshe Boyette I am forever a student of the mind-body-spirit connection. My traumatic childhood lead me down a path of unhealthy behaviors and addictions, but through a consistent yoga practice, I’ve become open to healing. With this practice, I find myself more grounded and present in my body with more self love and acceptance each day. I believe yoga provides people with the ability to meet themselves where they are at. As a teacher, I hope to encourage people to find ways to honor themselves on the mat, so that they are more easily able to celebrate their unique needs and identities off the mat.
