Yoga Rain or Shine

Updated: Apr 11, 2023

HELLO FRIENDS! We’re looking forward to getting outside for a couple of events this month. I hope you can join Rayne and I for a little spring hike at Silver Falls on the 16th. Rayne and JJ will be presenting a special Earth Day Yoga & Sitar Celebration at Riverfront Park. Hope to see you there. We’re excited for a great month of classes with you. Thank you for your continued support of the studio, your kindness, and for sharing your practice with us. See you soon!

In Gratitude, Lorissa

COMING UP

Hiking Silver Falls Sunday, April 16 | 10 am - 12 pm Join Lorissa & Rayne for a hike at Silver Falls State Park. Make some time for yourself and escape into nature to rejuvenate your body & mind. We will kick off the adventure with a short yoga practice outside to warm up our bodies before voyaging the South Fall trail to visit your favorite waterfalls in Oregon.

Earth Day Yoga + Sitar in the Park Saturday, April 22 | 11 am - 12:30 pm Celebrate Earth Day at Riverfront Park by moving through a Hatha Yoga class focusing on Earth-element asanas. Sitarist JJ Gregg will be sharing soft, live music for class. Come rain or shine with options to practice in the grass or under the amphitheater at Riverfront Park.

Saturday, April 29 | 12 pm - 2 pm

Join Megan Mercer of Destination Reverie for this Breathwork Detox class that uses an uplifting playlist to create an experience unlike anything you have done before. It is done lying down, but it does require some work. The most important thing you will need is an open mind, and Megan will guide you through the rest. Every session is different, but one can expect to release emotion that you might not even know is there, whether that is stress, tension, anxiety or even laughter, resulting in a felt sense of joy and bliss.

Inversion Workshop Saturday, May 6 | 2 pm - 4:30 pm Are you ready to go upside down? Join Julie and Leslie for a 2.5-hour workshop for a playful and safe exploration of various inverted poses. We’ll focus on headstand, handstand, forearm balances, and restorative inversions, with a variety of options for each pose.

Mother's Day Yoga & Brunch @ The Holman Sunday, May 14 | 10 am - 12 pm Do you have Mother's Day plans? Start your day with Yoga and Brunch at the brand-new hotel located in downtown Salem, The Holman! BOOK OF THE MONTH (available in our lending library) Threads of Yoga: Themes, Reflections, and Meditations to Weave into Your Practice by Pamela Seelig

"Yoga draws many practitioners because of its physical benefits, but it is often the experience of peace that people return for. Threads of Yoga supports those seeking to learn more about yoga’s deeper spiritual teachings. Each short chapter introduces a foundational yogic theme, such as letting go, the breath, the yamas and the niyamas, and the chakra system. Each theme is accompanied by practices, including meditation, complementary poses, breath work, or quotes to contemplate. It is an ideal guide for both practitioners and teachers who want to connect with the spiritual wisdom of yoga, deepen their personal practice, or develop and support a theme for yoga class."
