New Classes & Summer Events

Updated: Jul 5, 2022

Hope you are enjoying that much-anticipated sunshine. It has already been a great start to the summer, and we have so many fun things planned for the next few weeks. Hope you are able to relax and soak in these long summer days.

We're happy to announce new classes this month. Julie is adding a 26+2 Hot Class on Wednesday evenings at 6. This will bring us up to 7 days a week of hot classes! Julie also added Therapeutic Yoga on Saturdays at 9:45 am. Krystal has a Friday night addition of Buti Yoga at 6:30 pm, plus 7 am Vinyasa Monday through Friday all summer long. Melissa will teach Saturday at 8 am Hatha every other Saturday in July and August, alternating with Zohra. It is fun to see so many different styles of yoga all in a week. We encourage you to try one of our new classes! The studio's summer is off to a spectacular start, so be sure to keep scrolling for more great news! Wishing you a July filled with lots of time outdoors enjoying the beauty of Oregon... and plenty of yoga. See you soon! With Gratitude, Lorissa

WHAT AN HONOR

We were thrilled and honored to receive the news that Common People Yoga was voted Best of the Willamette Valley 2022 for Yoga/Pilates. Thank you for being so supportive; it means so much.

CONGRATS TEACHERS

A very memorable event happened on the last Sunday of June. A group of yoga teachers completed their training at CPY! Congratulations to Brittany, Colleen, Jacklyn, Meg, Stephanie, Sheila, and Vanessa for your hard work. We wish you all the best on your yoga journey and are honored that it started right here! Thank you to Zohra for your leadership and for expanding the reach of yoga through this new group of incredible teachers.

OUR ANNIVERSARY

It has almost been a year since we opened the doors as Common People Yoga. Wow. What a fun and amazing journey it has been so far. We couldn’t let the day pass without pausing to celebrate, and more importantly, thank you for your support through this first year. We have a special event planned for Tuesday, August 2nd. We’ll have live music in the studio with local artist Jacob Westfall (you may recognize him from his appearances on The Voice and American Idol). We’ll also have food, drinks, and of course, we always love giveaways! We’d really enjoy seeing you; please add the date to your calendar now and plan on it!

BOOK OF THE MONTH (available in our lending library) Shakespeare's Yoga: How the Bard Can Deepen Your Practice On and Off the Mat by Claire Szabo-Cassella "Shakespeare's Yoga applies some of the Bard’s most famous quotes and passages to yoga practice—on and off the mat. With down-to-earth insights from her involvement in Shakespearean theatre and twenty years as a yoga practitioner, studio owner, and yoga teacher trainer, Claire Szabo-Cassella parallels Shakespeare’s inherent spiritual wisdom to the yamas, the five core yogic concepts in the art of right living. As a result, you realize “all the world’s a stage” for yoga practice."
